The Marie Sklodowska-Curie Fellowship Program (MSCFP), established by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), empowers women to pursue Master’s degrees in nuclear-related fields. Named in honor of the legendary scientist Marie Sklodowska-Curie, the program supports gender diversity and fosters a skilled, inclusive workforce in nuclear science and technology.
Since its inception in 2020, MSCFP has awarded scholarships to hundreds of women worldwide—spanning a range of nuclear topics and offering invaluable academic and professional opportunities.
Who Is Eligible?
- Gender & Citizenship: Open only to female candidates who are citizens of IAEA Member States.
- Academic Program: Applicants must be accepted into or enrolled in a Master’s program at an accredited university, in fields such as nuclear engineering, nuclear medicine, nuclear safety, non-proliferation, and more.
- Academic Standing: Strong preference is given to those with above-average academic performance (e.g., GPA > 3.0/4.0 or ≥ 75%).
Fellowship Benefits
- Financial Support:
- Up to €20,000 for tuition.
- Up to €20,000 for living expenses during the Master’s program.
- If recipients already hold other scholarships, IAEA support may be adjusted accordingly.
- Internship Opportunities:
- Fellows can undertake an internship facilitated by the IAEA, typically at its Headquarters, laboratories, or with Collaborating Centers, for up to 12 months.
- Annual Cohort:
- Each year, approximately 100 women are selected—though this may vary depending on funding availability.
- Professional Networking:
- Fellows gain access to technical events, IAEA schools, alumnae networks, and LinkedIn groups for continued professional development and support.
