NECO GCE 2024 Registration for Private Candidates

 

The National Examinations Council (NECO) General Certificate of Education (GCE) is an important examination for private candidates who seek to earn their secondary school leaving certificate.  Registration Process and Requirements

To register for the NECO GCE 2024, candidates must follow these steps:

1. Visit the NECO Registration Portal:
– Go to the official NECO registration portal (www.neco.gov.ng) and create an account if you are a new user or log in if you already have an account.

2. Create a Profile:
– After logging in, candidates are required to create a profile by providing personal details such as name, date of birth, gender, nationality, and other relevant information.

3. Select Examination Type:
– Choose the type of examination (GCE) and the year (2024) from the options available.

4. Choose Examination Center:
– Select a convenient examination center from the list of available centers. It is advisable to choose a center close to your location to avoid any inconvenience.

5. Upload Passport Photograph:
– Upload a recent passport-sized photograph that meets NECO’s specifications (white background, clear image).

6. Select Subjects:
– Candidates must select a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 9 subjects. English Language and Mathematics are compulsory for all candidates.

7. Review and Submit:
– Carefully review all the information provided to ensure accuracy. Once satisfied, submit your application.

8. Print Acknowledgment Slip:
– After submission, print out the acknowledgment slip. This slip contains important information such as your examination number, examination center, and subjects selected.

Registration Timeline

The registration period extends from 3rd July, 2024 to 6th November, 2024. A walk-in fee is set at N28,000.00. Late registration will incur an additional fee of N2,000.00.

Payment Methods

Candidates are required to pay a registration fee, which is usually determined annually by NECO. The payment can be made through various methods:

1. Bank Payment:
– Candidates can make payments at designated banks across the country. After payment, ensure to collect a payment receipt that contains a PIN for online registration.

2. Online Payment:
– Payments can also be made online using credit/debit cards through the NECO portal. This method is quick and provides instant confirmation.

3. Remita:
– Payment can also be made through Remita by generating an RRR (Remita Retrieval Reference) from the NECO portal and proceeding to any commercial bank to complete the payment.

List of Subjects

The SSCE External offers an extensive range of twenty-nine subjects. Candidates can choose from a wide range of subjects for the NECO GCE. Below is a list of available subjects:
