The Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarship is made possible through the generous support of several sponsors including individuals, companies, and foundations — who want to help outstanding international students study at Sciences Po.

Some of the private sponsors even get to meet the scholarship students during official events. Supporters of the Émile Boutmy Scholarship include BNP Paribas, Chalhoub Group, RATP Foundation, L’Oréal, and Total.

Benefits

For Bachelor’s Degree Students:
This scholarship is given to new students starting their first year at Sciences Po.

It can come in different forms:

  • A full tuition fee waiver, or
  • A partial tuition fee reduction of up to €9,500.
Eligibility

To qualify for the Émile Boutmy Scholarship, applicants must:

  • Be first-time students applying to Sciences Po.
  • Come from a non-European Union country.
  • Have a household that does not pay taxes within the EU.
  • Be admitted into one of Sciences Po’s Undergraduate or Master’s programs.

Who Cannot Apply

The following applicants are not eligible for the scholarship:

  • Swiss and Norwegian students (as they may receive CROUS scholarships).
  • Dual citizens, if one of their citizenships is from an EU country.
  • Quebec applicants for Master’s programs, since they already benefit from reduced tuition like EU students.
    (Note: Quebec applicants for Bachelor’s programs are eligible.)
  • Master’s dual-degree applicants, except for the following programs:
    • Journalism dual degree with Columbia University
    • Dual degree with Fudan University (Europe-Asia in Global Affairs — only for Chinese nationals)
    • Dual degree with Peking University (only for Chinese nationals)
  • Ph.D. (thesis) students
  • Applicants for 1-year Master’s programs
  • Bachelor’s dual-degree candidates, unless under a special agreement
  • Exchange students
  • Applicants using the French graduate admission process
Required Documents

When applying for the Sciences Po Émile Boutmy Scholarship, candidates need to prepare some supporting documents.

For Undergraduate Applicants:
You must provide documents that show your family’s financial situation, such as:

  • Income tax returns for both parents
  • Payslips
  • Divorce or separation certificates
  • Proof of unemployment benefits
  • Documents showing alimony, child support, or pension payments
  • Death certificate (if applicable)

For Master’s Applicants:
You don’t need to attach extra documents at the time of application. However, Sciences Po may request proof of income later if needed.

How to Apply

Follow these steps to apply:

  1. Visit the official Sciences Po admission portal through the provided scholarship page.
  2. Apply for admission into an Undergraduate or Master’s program at Sciences Po.
  3. In your online application, go to the “Financial Information” section and indicate that you are applying for the Émile Boutmy Scholarship.
  4. If requested, upload the necessary financial documents such as income statements, payslips, or proof of family circumstances (as listed above).
  5. Submit your application before the stated deadline.

Note:
Master’s applicants should also indicate their interest in the scholarship in the Financial Information section. They may later be asked to submit income or family-related documents for verification.

Deadlines:

  • Undergraduates: January 20, 2026
  • Masters: November 30, 2025
