The Maastricht University (UM) Global Studies Scholarship gives international students from developing countries the chance to study a bachelor’s degree for free at one of the leading universities in the Netherlands. This program prepares students to understand complex global issues and develop real-world solutions that cut across cultures, disciplines, and borders.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Maastricht University Global Studies Scholarship 2026, you must:

Be a citizen of a country in the Global South (Africa, Asia including the Middle East, Latin America, or the Caribbean — as defined by the OECD)
Not hold dual citizenship from a country in the Global North
Not have previously completed a degree-seeking program in the Netherlands (exchange students are welcome to apply)
Be 35 years old or younger by 1 September 2026
Apply for admission to the Global Studies bachelor’s program for the 2026/2027 academic year
Be willing to serve as a Global Studies and UM ambassador during and after your studies by sharing your experience with others
