The University of Abuja (UNIABUJA) has officially announced the commencement of admissions for its Professional Master’s Degree Program in Publishing Studies (MPS) for the 2023/2024 academic session, Stream II. This program is being offered through the newly established International Institute for Publishing Studies (UIPS), which aims to address the growing demand for trained professionals in Nigeria’s publishing industry and beyond.
About the UIPS Program
The UIPS is designed to enhance academic and professional standards in publishing, providing students with practical knowledge in areas such as editing, media content production, and publishing ethics. The program duration is 12 months, with students required to complete a 24-credit-hour curriculum, including six credit hours of practical internships. The institute is equipped with state-of-the-art publishing equipment and provides opportunities to collaborate with international scholars and industry professionals from countries like the United States, UK, Canada and South Africa.
Eligibility
Applicants interested in the Professional Master’s Degree in Publishing Studies must meet the following criteria:
- Possess Five O’ Level credit passes, including English and Mathematics, obtained in no more than two sittings.
- Hold a Bachelor’s Honors degree in any field from a recognized university.
- Higher National Diploma (HND) or Postgraduate Diploma from a recognised institution.
- Other professional qualifications recognized by the University of Abuja.
Program Duration
Applications are accepted in two intakes:
- November for January admissions.
- June for August admissions.

Interested applicants for the UIIPS Master’s program should follow the steps below:
- Visit the UNIABUJA Application Portal.
- Click on “International Institute for Publishing Studies” from the list of options.
- Enter your details ( which includes; surname, first name, other name, email address, and phone number).
- Click “Next” to generate the RRR for payment.
- Complete the payment using MasterCard or Visa Card on the REMITA platform.
- After successful payment, you will be redirected back to the portal, and an application number will be generated.
- Log in using the application number and surname as the password to complete your application.
Important Notice
- The application period closes on Sunday, 19th January 2025.
- A non-refundable application fee of Thirty Thousand Naira (₦30,000) is required.
- Payments must be made through REMITA on the University of Abuja Portal.
