The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI) in Doha, Qatar, is opening its doors to both Qatari and international students for the 2026–2027 academic year. DI offers fully funded scholarships for both Master’s and PhD programs, providing a transformative opportunity for advanced studies in social sciences, humanities, public administration, and development economics.

Types of Scholarships & Benefits

1. Tamim Scholarship (Merit-Based)

  • Covers 100% tuition fees
  • Includes free on-campus accommodation, monthly stipend, health insurance, and round-trip airfare

2. Sanad Scholarship (Need-Based)

  • Designed for applicants demonstrating financial need
  • Offers tuition coverage up to 100%, housing, stipend, health insurance, and airfare

Both scholarships ensure academic focus with minimized financial burden.

Fields of Study

Students can pursue graduate programs through these academic units:

  • School of Public Administration & Development Economics
  • School of Social Sciences and Humanities
  • Center for Conflict and Humanitarian Studies.

Some fields available include political science, human rights, comparative literature, media studies, psychology, linguistics, and more.

Eligibility Criteria
  1. We welcome applications from students of all nationalities and backgrounds around the globe.
  2. A Bachelor’s Degree Certificate is required for eligibility.
  3. Students who are in their final year of an undergraduate program may also submit their applications for admission.
  4. There are no age restrictions for applicants.
How to Apply
  1. Apply for your desired Master’s or PhD program via the official DI admission portal.
  2. Once admitted, you’ll be invited to apply for the scholarship.
  3. Upload required documents, including identification, transcripts, CV, recommendation letters, personal statement, academic essay/proposal, and language proof if needed.
  4. Submit before the deadline and await interview notifications and scholarship decisions.
PhD Scholarship Structure (Multi-Phase)

For doctoral candidates, the scholarship is structured in phases:

  • Phase 1 (Coursework): Covers first two semesters; continuation depends on academic performance.
  • Phase 2 (Prospectus Writing): Awarded for one year to students maintaining a GPA of at least 3.5.
  • Phase 3 (Dissertation Phase): Offered for two years upon passing a comprehensive exam; extensions possible with approval.

Additionally, full-time PhD recipients often assist with teaching or research (up to 10–15 hours/week) as part of their responsibilities).
