ABSU Post-UTME/DE:Cut-off mark, Eligibility and Registration Details

As the 2024 academic session approaches, Abia State University (ABSU) has announced its Post-UTME and Direct Entry (DE) screening exercise for prospective students. This article provides detailed information on the specific dates for different faculties and courses, eligibility criteria, cut-off marks, and the registration process.

 Important Dates for ABSU Post-UTME/DE 2024

ABSU has released a timetable for the Post-UTME/DE screening exercise. The schedule is organized according to faculties, ensuring an orderly and efficient process. Below are the specific dates for each faculty:

Day 1: Wednesday, 4th September, 2024:

Faculty of Biological Sciences
Faculty of Physical Sciences
College of Medicine
Faculty of Health Sciences
Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences

Day 2: Thursday, 5th September 2024:

Faculty of Law

Faculty of Agriculture

Faculty of Economics & Management Sciences

Faculty of Social Sciences

Day 3: Friday, 6th September, 2024:

Faculty of Education

Faculty of Engineering

Faculty of Environmental Studies

Faculty of Humanities

Note: All screenings will take place at the university’s main campus in Uturu, Abia State.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the ABSU Post-UTME/DE screening exercise, candidates must meet the following requirements.

  1. UTME Candidates:
  •  Must have selected Abia State University as their first or second choice in the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
  •  Must have scored at least 160 in the UTME.
  •  Must possess a minimum of five (5) O’ Level credits in relevant subjects,  including English Language and Mathematics, obtained in not more than two sittings.

2.  Direct Entry (DE) Candidates:

  •  Must have applied for Direct Entry admission through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
  •  Must possess at least two Advanced Level passes or an equivalent qualification.
  •  Must meet the specific departmental requirements for the chosen course.

Cut-off Marks

ABSU has set faculty-specific cut-off marks for the 2024 admission exercise. These cut-off marks serve as the minimum scores required for candidates to be considered for admission into their chosen courses. Below are the cut-off marks for some faculties:

– Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: 160

– Faculty of Biological and Physical Sciences: 160

– Faculty of Education: 160

– Faculty of Management Sciences: 170

– Faculty of Environmental Studies: 160

– Faculty of Agriculture: 160

– Faculty of Law: 200

– Faculty of Medicine and Surgery: 220

– Faculty of Engineering: 180

Note: The cut-off marks are subject to change based on the performance of candidates in the Post-UTME screening exercise.

 Registration Process

Candidates eligible for the ABSU Post-UTME/DE screening exercise should follow the steps below to register:

  1. Visit the ABSU Portal:
  •  Go to the official ABSU Post-UTME/DE registration portal: [ABSU Portal (https://portal.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng).

2. Generate an Invoice:

  •  Click on the “Generate Invoice” button to create a payment invoice for the screening fee.
  •  The screening fee is ₦2,000, payable online or at any branch of designated banks.

3. Payment:

  •  Pay the required screening fee using your generated invoice.
  •  Ensure you keep the payment receipt as it will be needed during the screening exercise.

4. Complete the Online Registration:

  •  Return to the ABSU portal and complete the online registration form by providing all required information, including UTME/DE details, O’ Level result, and personal details.
  •  Upload your passport photograph and other relevant documents as specified on the portal.

5.  Print Acknowledgement Slip:

  •  After completing the registration, print the acknowledgement slip. This slip must be presented on the day of the screening.
 Important Notes
  •  Candidates are advised to arrive at the screening venue at least one hour before the scheduled time.
  •  Mobile phones and other electronic devices are not allowed in the screening hall.
  •  Ensure that all information provided during the registration process is accurate, as any discrepancy may lead to disqualification.
