Applications are now open for the VLIR-UOS Scholarships for the 2026/2027 Master Programs (ICP Connect). These scholarships are for people from 30 countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America. They help students study at Flemish universities or universities of applied sciences and arts where classes are taught in English.
The application dates may vary depending on the specific program.
Benefits
- The VLIR-UOS ICP Connect scholarships cover tuition fees, travel, insurance, and living expenses (like food and housing).
- Scholarships are available for the entire duration of the study program, which can last 12, 24, or 36 months.
Eligibility
To apply for the VLIR-UOS Study Scholarship, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Motivation: You should show how your goals relate to knowledge sharing and sustainable development.
- Professional Experience: We prefer candidates who can use their new knowledge in areas like higher education, government, or civil society to create positive change.
- Gender Balance: We aim for equal numbers of male and female scholarship recipients, and encourage women to apply.
- Regional Balance: We want a mix of scholars from different countries and regions, as long as there are enough qualified candidates.
- Leave No One Behind (LNOB): If candidates are equally qualified, those from vulnerable groups will be given priority.
- Previously Awarded Scholarship: Preference will go to candidates who have never received a scholarship to study in a higher income country (bachelor or master).
How to Apply
If you want to apply for the ICP Connect Study Scholarship, here’s what you need to do:
- Check if you meet all the eligibility criteria.
- Find out more about the study programs you’re interested in. If you like a specific one, go to that school’s website and follow their instructions.
- On the school’s website, apply for both the study program and the scholarship. When applying for the program, don’t forget to say you want to apply for a scholarship too. Remember, you can only apply for one ICP program each year.
What happens next?
- Each program has its own deadlines. We get the selection results from the program organizers.
- VLIR-UOS will contact you by email if you are chosen or on the waiting list, usually by mid-June.
