Each year, Texas Tech University offers full scholarships to selected first-year undergraduate students who are starting their studies at the university in the United States. The Texas Tech University Presidential Scholarship is a yearly award given to outstanding new students. The scholarship amount is shared into two parts — half is paid in the fall semester and the other half in the spring semester.
Students who live outside Texas and receive the Presidential Scholarship will also be allowed to pay in-state tuition fees, which are lower than out-of-state fees.
Who Can Receive the Presidential Scholarship?
The Presidential Scholarship is given to first-time freshmen who have excellent academic records. This includes high test scores and strong class rankings.
To qualify, you must:
- Be an incoming freshman (first-year college student).
- College credits earned through dual-credit, CLEP, or AP will not disqualify you.
Benefits
- The award is paid yearly.
- Half of the money is applied in the fall semester.

- Non-resident students who win the scholarship can pay in-state tuition.
