The University of Delaware (UD) is accepting applications for Master’s and Ph.D. research assistantships in various fields like Food Engineering, Fresh Produce Processing & Microbiology, and Plasma Physics/Chemistry.
These positions start in Spring 2026 for domestic students and Fall 2026 for both domestic and international students. The selected candidates will be part of the Department of Animal and Food Sciences (ANFS) in Newark, DE, and will have the chance to conduct research in modern facilities across Delaware, New Jersey, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.
Benefits
Graduate assistants will get a good funding package, which includes:
- Tuition waiver (2 years for Master’s, 4 years for Ph.D.)
- Monthly stipend of about $3,000 (before tax)
- Health insurance through UD’s healthcare system
- Funding for at least one conference each year
Eligibility
To apply for the University of Delaware Scholarship, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or similar fields
- GPA above 3.5 (undergraduate or graduate level)
- For international students: TOEFL score of 95 or higher, or IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
Preferred Skills & Experiences
It’s good to also have:
- Strong GPA (3.7 or more for undergraduate, 3.8 or more for graduate)
- Research experience in plasma physics, chemistry, or engineering
- Knowledge of programming (Python, R, MATLAB)
- Experience with numerical simulations using COMSOL or Ansys
- Good writing and communication skills
- Background in electronics, robotics, and AI/ML applications
