Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) Extends Online Lectures Until End of January 2026

The Federal University of Lafia (FULAFIA) has announced a change to its resumption schedule due to ongoing renovation work on the student hostels that is taking longer than planned.

In an internal memo issued by the Office of the Registrar and dated 26 December 2025, the university informed students that physical lectures will not resume immediately. Instead, all lectures will continue online until 30 January 2026. According to the memo, this decision was made because the repair and renovation work at the hostels is progressing slowly, and the facilities are not yet ready to accommodate students.

The university management explained that to properly organize accommodation, the hostel application portal will open on 12 January 2026. After this, the process of hostel and room allocation will begin on 19 January 2026. These steps are meant to ensure that students are properly placed before returning to campus. Full physical academic activities, including in-person lectures, are now expected to resume on campus by 30 January 2026.

Students have been advised to remain at home for now and continue attending their lectures online until the new return date. The university stressed that online classes remain important and should be taken seriously during this period.

FULAFIA management also apologized to students for any inconvenience or discomfort the change in plans may cause. The university asked students to be patient, understanding, and cooperative as efforts continue to complete the hostel renovations and prepare the campus for a smooth return.
