Program Duration

  • PGD programs run for two semesters.
  • Master’s programs require three semesters.
  • M.Phil. programs last two semesters.
  • Ph.D. programs span six semesters.
  • Professional programs take 24 months.

Eligibility Criteria

Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):

  1. Five credits at O’level, including English and Mathematics.
  2. A bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution with at least a Third Class.
  3. Higher National Diploma (HND) holders with a minimum of Upper Credit.

Master’s Degree (M.Sc./M.A.):

  1. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with at least Second Class Lower Division.
  2. Applicants with a Postgraduate Diploma (PGD) in a relevant discipline with a minimum credit-level pass of 3.5 CGPA, may also apply.

Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.):

  1. A bachelor’s and Master’s degree in a related field from an approved institution.

Doctorate Degree (PhD):

  1. A Master’s degree in a relevant field with a research thesis and a minimum CGPA of 3.50 on a 5.00 scale or its equivalent.
  2. Applicants must also satisfy O’level requirements with five credits in relevant subjects.

Application Procedure

Interested candidates should follow the steps below to apply:

  1. Visit the FUOTUOKE Portal: Go to the FUOTUOKE eCampus platform.
  2. Select “APPLICATIONS” and choose “POST-GRADUATE”.
  3. Click “BUY PIN” to purchase the application PIN.
  4. Provide your name, email, and phone number, then proceed to payment via Remita.
  5. After payment, your PIN will be displayed on the screen and sent to your email.
  6. Use the PIN to begin your application.
  7. Complete the forms and upload the required documents.
  8. Submit the application and print the summary page.

Application Deadline

The closing date for submission of applications is 31st January 2025.. Late submissions will not be considered.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for a screening exercise, which may include an oral or written interview. Applicants will be notified of the screening details via their registered email addresses and the university’s portal.

  • Passport photograph.
  • O’Level results.
  • Birth certificate or age declaration.
  • Local Government Area (LGA) identification letter.
  • First degree certificate.
  • Master’s degree certificate (if applicable).
  • Required Documents for Submission
  • Send duplicate copies of the summary page and the following documents to the School of Postgraduate Studies:
  • Degree certificates.
  • NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
  • O’Level certificates.
  • Birth certificate or age declaration.
  • LGA identification letter.
  • Research proposal (maximum 3 pages for master’s, 5 pages for Ph.D.).

  • Ensure all transcripts reach the university before the admission process begins
  • Transcripts must be sent directly from the applicant’s university to:
  • The Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies, Federal University, Otuoke, Bayelsa State.
  • Monitor the application’s progress on the FUOTUOKE application portal.
  • Applicants will receive updates via email regarding the status of their application.
  • Multiple applications will lead to cancellation.
  • Applications submitted without transcripts will not be processed.
  • Successful candidates will receive admission letters through the email address provided during registration.
