The ECOWAS Immersion Internship Program 2026 (also termed the Young Graduate Immersion Program) is a one-year, non-renewable professional internship aimed at equipping young graduates from ECOWAS member states with practical experience and promoting regional integration. Interns will be placed in ECOWAS institutions, agencies, departments, or resident representations.
Specifically, the program seeks to enhance employability, deepen understanding of ECOWAS operations, and empower youth by integrating them into the implementation of regional initiatives.
Who Should Apply?
This program targets young graduates aged 18 to 32 years old who are nationals of ECOWAS member states, including Benin, Cabo Verde, Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo.
Applicants must hold at least a Bachelor’s degree—or higher (Master’s, Doctorate, or equivalent).
Selection Details & Application Process
- Vacancies: Around 80 positions are available for the 2026 cycle.
- A Technical Selection Committee will conduct evaluations, and only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
- Applicants may apply for a maximum of two positions.
Program Duration & Structure
- Duration: Maximum of 12 months, from January to December 2026.
- Host locations include various ECOWAS departments, agencies, institutions, and representations, or other sites designated by ECOWAS.
- Interns are required to produce a final report in three copies:
- One submitted to the Human Development and Social Affairs (DHAS) department
- One to the host/user department
- One retained by the intern themselves
- Interns must participate in-person or online in meetings and ceremonies convened by the Program Coordination team—especially important for those not based in Abuja.
