Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) Extends Application Deadline for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially announced an extension of the application deadline for the 2025/2026 academic session. The deadline, which was initially set for 31 January 2026, has now been moved to 27 February 2026.

This extension is aimed at providing prospective applicants with additional time to properly complete and submit their applications, ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is disadvantaged due to timing or procedural challenges.

Reason for the Extension

Speaking on the decision, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NELFUND, Mr. Akintunde Sawyerr, explained that the extension reflects the Fund’s commitment to fairness and accessibility in education financing.

According to him:

“This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity and access. We understand that some applicants may require additional time to complete their submissions, and this decision ensures that every eligible Nigerian student has a fair opportunity to benefit from the Fund.”

Call to Prospective Applicants

NELFUND encourages all prospective applicants who are yet to apply or who have started but not completed their applications to make good use of the extended deadline. Applicants are advised to ensure that all required information and supporting documents are correctly submitted on or before 27 February 2026.
