UBA Foundation Essay Competition 2024 for Nigerian Students

The UBA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, is proud to announce the UBA Foundation Essay Competition for 2024. This annual competition aims to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and literary prowess among Nigerian students. It offers an excellent opportunity for young minds to express their thoughts and ideas on pressing social issues while competing for exciting prizes scholarships

Competition Theme

The theme for the 2024 UBA Foundation Essay Competition is “The Impact of Carbon Emission on Climate Change In Nigeria: Discuss the Challenges and Proffer Solutions”

Eligibility Criteria

The competition is open to Nigerian students in the following categories:

  • Must be a current Senior Secondary School Nigerian student.
  • Submit a scanned copy of a valid means of identification e.g; National ID, Birth Certificate, Passport.
  • Submit your essay entry before the deadline

Essay Guidelines

Participants must adhere to the following guidelines when preparing their essays:

  • Word Count: Essays should be between 800 to 1,200 words.
  • Format: All essays must be typed in 12-point Times New Roman font, double-spaced, and submitted in PDF format.
  • Originality: Essays must be original works, and any form of plagiarism will lead to disqualification.

Application Process

To participate in the UBA Foundation Essay Competition, follow these steps:

  1. Write Your Essay: Develop your essay based on the theme provided, ensuring it is well-structured and articulately presents your ideas.
  2. Complete the Registration Form: Visit the UBA Foundation website to fill out the registration form, providing all required details.
  3. Submit Your Essay: Upload your essay and registration form through the designated submission portal on the UBA Foundation website.
  4. Deadline for Submission: All entries must be submitted by 8th November, 2024.. Late submissions will not be considered.

Prizes

The UBA Foundation offers attractive prizes for winners in each category:

  • Winner: N7,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes.
  • 1st Runner-up: N5,000,000.00 + Award + Prizes.
  • 2nd Runner-up: N500,000 scholarship.
  • 3rd Prize: N3,500,000.00 + Award + Prizes.

This prize money will be awarded as an educational grant to support the winner’s pursuit of an undergraduate degree at any African Institution of their choice. Additionally, winners will receive certificates of achievement and be recognized at a special award ceremony.
