UNN Announces Procedures for Inter-University Transfer Applications – 2024/2025 Academic Session

The University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has officially released the procedures for Inter-University Transfer applications for the 2024/2025 academic session. This initiative allows students currently enrolled in other universities to transfer to UNN, provided they meet the eligibility criteria and adhere to the outlined guidelines.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for an Inter-University Transfer to UNN, applicants must:

  1. Academic Standing:
    • Be in good academic standing with their current institution, possessing a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of  2.95 on a 5.00-point scale.
    • Have completed at least one full academic session in their current institution.
  2. Program Alignment:
    • The program in the current university must align with the program the applicant wishes to transfer into at UNN.
  3. Disciplinary Record:
    • Applicants must not have been involved in any disciplinary action or expelled from their current institution.
  4. O’Level/UTME Requirements:
    • Meet O’Level requirements for the desired program at UNN.
    • Applicants must provide a JAMB score that meets or exceeds the minimum score for UNN students admitted to the same department in their original year of admission.

Application Guidelines

Interested candidates are required to follow these steps to apply for an Inter-University Transfer:

  1. Visit the UNN Portal:
    • Access the official UNN website and navigate to the Inter-University Transfer section.
    • Log in using your telephone number to generate a unique payment invoice for the application processing fee.
    • Pay the application fee of ₦300,000.00 (Three Hundred Thousand Naira) via the Remita payment platform at any commercial bank, including the UNN Microfinance Bank. The payment invoice will provide the necessary Remita number for bank processing.
  2. Obtain and Complete the Application Form:
    • Return to the UNN website or portal and log in using your telephone number and Remita invoice number to complete the online Inter-University Transfer Form. Fill it out accurately. Ensure all sections are completed, including personal information, academic history, and program details.
  3. Submit Supporting Documents:
    • Upload scanned copies of the following documents:
      • Academic transcript from the current university.
      • Evidence of UTME results and O’Level certificates.
      • A letter of recommendation from the current Head of Department.
      • Evidence of payment of the non-refundable application fee.
  4. Submit Application:
    • Print the completed form and submit it to the Registry (Admissions) along with copies of your O’Level results and result checkers (WAEC/NECO scratch cards). Submit the final page of the form to your current university registrar for completion and confirmation of your release. Your current registrar should then forward the release form and your transcript to the Registrar, University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

  • Application Opens: Monday, January 13th, 2025
  • Application Deadline: Friday, January 31st, 2025

Selection Process

Applications will be reviewed by the respective departments and the Admissions Office. The review process will assess the academic performance, alignment of programs, and space availability in the desired department.

Key Points to Note

  • Applicants must have spent no more than two (2) academic sessions at their current institution.
  • The number of transfer students admitted to any department will not exceed 4% of the department’s annual admission quota.
  • Applicants must be transferring into the same course of study.
  • Applicants will not be admitted beyond their second year of study in their chosen program at UNN.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled at the institution from which they seek to transfer.
  • Successful candidates will receive a transfer approval letter and will be required to complete a registration process upon arrival at UNN.
  • All transfer students must adhere to the university’s academic regulations and complete any additional courses required by their new department.
  • Transfers into 400-level programs are not permitted.
