WAEC Results for WASSCE 2025 Exams for School Candidates Are Out

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results of the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates. This much-anticipated announcement was made on Monday, August 4, 2025, via WAEC’s official online channels, signaling the completion of a major milestone for thousands of senior secondary school students across Nigeria and other West African countries.

Announcement and Release Details

According to WAEC’s Head of National Office (HNO), Dr. Amos Dangut, the 2025 WASSCE results were released exactly 45 days after the conclusion of the last paper, maintaining the Council’s commitment to a prompt and efficient turnaround in processing results. The examination, which ran from May 6 to June 21, 2025, saw participation from over 1.7 million candidates across Nigeria.

How to Check Your WAEC Result

Candidates who sat for the exams can now access their results online by following these steps:

  1. Visit the WAEC result checking portal: https://www.waecdirect.org
  2. Enter your WAEC Examination Number (e.g., 4250101001)
  3. Select your Examination Year (2025)
  4. Select Examination Type (School Candidate Result)
  5. Enter the e-PIN Voucher Number
  6. Click “Submit” to view your results

Performance Statistics

Dr. Dangut revealed that out of the total number of candidates who sat the examination:

  • 89.23% obtained credits and above in at least five (5) subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • 76.58% of candidates achieved the minimum university admission requirement of five credits including English and Mathematics in one sitting.
  • 130,875 candidates’ results are being withheld due to various reported cases of examination malpractice. These cases are currently under investigation, and final decisions will be communicated in due course.

Gender Breakdown

The gender statistics indicate near parity in participation:

  • Male Candidates: 873,145
  • Female Candidates: 853,009

Out of these, female candidates reportedly performed slightly better than their male counterparts in core subjects such as English Language and Biology.

With results now available, candidates are advised to:

  • Immediately print out their result slip
  • Apply for result confirmation or certificate collection where necessary
  • Begin their post-secondary application process to universities, polytechnics, or colleges of education
  • For those with withheld results, await the outcome of the WAEC investigative panel
