Who Can Register?
The NECO SSCE External exam is intended for private candidates—those not enrolled in regular secondary schools, or individuals seeking to upgrade previous results. A valid NIN is required for registration.
What You Need to Prepare
Before you get started with registration, please ensure you have the following items ready:
- A valid National Identification Number (NIN)
- A recent passport photo (taken within the last 6 months) on a white background
- A fingerprint scanner available at your café, as biometric capture is necessary
Your fingerprints will be used to confirm your identity during the exam. If there’s a discrepancy, it could raise concerns about impersonation, so it’s important to have everything in order.
Step-by-Step Registration Process
- Create & Activate NECO Portal Account (via the official SSCE External portal) using email or phone.
- Pay into NECO TSA account digitally (ATM, Internet banking, USSD, bank drops). Scratch cards are no longer used.
- Visit certified registration center (e.g. cyber café) to upload your passport photograph and capture fingerprints via biometric software.
