Lagos State University (LASU) has officially opened applications for its Pre-Degree Studies (PDS) program for the 2025/2026 academic session. The fully residential, one-year intensive course will run from October 2025 to September 2026 at the Epe Campus of the university
Program Purpose
This program is tailored for candidates who have deficiencies in their O’Level results and wish to strengthen their academic credentials and prepare effectively for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). PDS students benefit from a reserved admission quota into 100-level undergraduate programs upon successful completion.
Subjects Offered
The PDS curriculum includes 11 core subjects to aid academic remediation and UTME readiness:
- Mathematics
- English Language
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Government
- Economics
- Literature in English
- Christian Religious Studies (CRS)
- Islamic Religious Studies (IRS)
- Accounting.
Admission Requirements
To apply, candidates must have at least three credit passes in relevant subjects from SSCE, NECO, or GCE, obtained in no more than two sittings. Eligible applicants will be invited to sit a qualifying examination.
Progression to 100 Level
Transitioning to degree programs requires:
- Sitting for the UTME and achieving LASU’s minimum cut-off mark.
- Passing LASU’s screening exercise.
- Rectifying any O’Level subject deficiencies via WAEC or NECO re-sits.
Successful candidates may gain admission into several faculties, including Engineering, Science, Law, Management Sciences, Education, Social Sciences, Agriculture, Transport, Mass Communication, Nursing, Dentistry, and the College of Medicine.

- Application Fee: ₦15,000.
- Visit the LASU website, choose MAKE PAYMENT, then proceed with registration via the LASU PDS application portal
- Applications close six weeks from the date of publication of the announcement (published August 11, 2025).
- Qualifying exam and interview dates will be communicated to applicants later.

- The program is strictly residential—students must live on-campus for its duration.
