The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, through its College of Postgraduate Studies (CPGS), has announced the commencement of sales for the 2025/2026 postgraduate admission forms. Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into full-time, part-time, and online postgraduate programs leading to the award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees across various faculties and departments.
Available Programmes
UNIZIK offers a wide range of postgraduate programs across its faculties, including:
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)
- Master’s Degree (M.A., M.Sc., M.Eng., etc.)
- Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)
These programs are available in various disciplines across faculties such as Arts, Sciences, Engineering, Management Sciences, Social Sciences, Law, Education, Health Sciences, and more.
Admission Requirements
General Entry Requirements
All applicants must have a minimum of five (5) credit passes, including English Language, obtained in not more than two sittings from WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or TC II (for Education programs).
Specific Programme Requirements
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
- A first degree with a minimum Final Cumulative Grade Point Average (FCGPA) of 1.51 on a 5-point scale.
- Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) with a minimum of Lower Credit.
- Master’s Degree:
- A first degree with a minimum FCGPA of 2.50 on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 45% for universities that do not use FCGPA.
- Holders of PGD with a minimum FCGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale.
- MPhil/Ph.D.:
- Master’s degree holders with an FCGPA between 3.00 and 3.49 on a 5-point scale.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.):
- Master’s degree holders with an FCGPA of 3.50 and above on a 5-point scale or a minimum of 60% for universities that do not use FCGPA.
Programme Duration
- Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
- Full-Time: Minimum of 2 semesters and maximum of 3 semesters.
- Part-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters and maximum of 6 semesters.
- Master’s Degree:
- Full-Time: Minimum of 3 semesters and maximum of 6 semesters.
- Part-Time: Minimum of 4 semesters and maximum of 8 semesters.
- MPhil/Ph.D.:
- Full-Time: Minimum of 2 semesters and maximum of 3 semesters.
- Part-Time: Minimum of 3 semesters and maximum of 4 semesters.
- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.):
- Full-Time: Minimum of 6 semesters and maximum of 10 semesters.
- Part-Time: Minimum of 8 semesters and maximum of 14 semesters.

- Visit the UNIZIK College of Postgraduate Studies application portal: https://apply.cpgs.unizik.edu.ng/
- Fill in the required information and submit to start your application.
- Check your email for a confirmation link and application number.
- Click the link to activate your account.
- Log in using your application number and email address.
- Payment:
- Pay the application fee online using Credo (for local students) or Paystack (for international students).
- Ensure you do not navigate away from the payment page until you are redirected back to the application portal.
- Completion:
- After payment, continue with the application by providing all necessary information.
- Submit the final application form.
- Print out the completed Application Form and Transcript Request Form.
- Send the Transcript Request Form to your previous institution for your academic transcripts.
Note: Ph.D. applicants are required to upload a proposal of not more than five type-written pages, including:
- Name of Applicant
- Proposed Department and Faculty
- Topic (not more than 18 words)
- Brief Background of the Study
- Aim and Objectives/Purpose
