NYSC Passing-Out for 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I: Winding-Up/Passing-Out (POP)

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the official schedule for the Winding-Up and Passing-Out (POP) activities for the 2024 Batch ‘A’ Stream I corps members. This event marks the culmination of the one-year mandatory national service program, a milestone in the lives of thousands of young Nigerian graduates who have contributed to national development through their service.

Significance of the POP Ceremony

The Passing-Out Parade is a symbolic and celebratory event that acknowledges the dedication, hard work, and resilience of corps members during their service year. It highlights their contributions to community development, education, healthcare, and other sectors in their places of primary assignment.

Schedule of Activities

The passing-out ceremony will be conducted in a low-key manner. The NYSC has outlined the following activities leading up to the POP ceremony:

1. Tuesday, 7th – Friday, 10th January, 2025

  • Release of Corps Members by Employers: Employers are expected to release passing-out Corps members to prepare for the event.
  • Job Awareness and Creation Sensitisation: Corps members will receive information on job creation and opportunities after service. This will take place at the Local Government level with assistance from NYSC and NDE officers.

2. Monday, 13th – Tuesday, 14th January, 2025

  • Registration and Clearing of Corps Members: Local Government Inspectors will carry out registration and clearance of Corps members.
  • Signing of Final Clearance: Zonal Inspectors will sign the final clearance for eligible Corps members.
  • Questionnaire Administration (Form 4B): A questionnaire will be given to 30% of passing-out Corps members.

3. Wednesday, 15th – Monday, 20th January, 2025

  • Signing of Final Clearance: Zonal Inspectors will continue signing the final clearance for Corps members.
  • Questionnaire Administration: The questionnaire process will continue for selected Corps members.

4. Tuesday, 21st – Wednesday, 22nd January, 2025

  • Final Clearance Signing: Zonal Inspectors will complete the signing of final clearance forms.

5. Thursday, 23rd January, 2025

  • Distribution of Certificates of National Service: Corps members who have successfully completed their service year will receive their Certificates of National Service. This will take place at the Local Government level.

    Important Guidelines for Corps Members

    1. Clearance Compliance: Ensure all documentation and clearance forms are duly completed and submitted on time to avoid delays in certificate issuance.
    2. CDS Records: Keep records of all CDS activities for verification during the winding-up process.
    3. Uniform Compliance: Corps members are advised to appear in their full NYSC uniform for all official POP activities.
    4. Attendance: Attendance at the POP ceremony is mandatory. Failure to attend may result in delays in certificate issuance.

    Special Notes for Employers and Supervisors

    The NYSC encourages all employers and supervisors to support corps members in completing their clearance requirements and CDS documentation. Your cooperation ensures a smooth and efficient winding-up process.
