Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, has announced the commencement of applications for full-time and part-time postgraduate programs for the Rain Semester of the 2025/2026 academic session. Suitably qualified candidates who wish to further their studies at the postgraduate level are invited to apply through the university’s online application portal.
The programs available cover several levels of postgraduate study, including Postgraduate Diplomas, Master’s degrees, Master of Philosophy (MPhil), and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs. Interested applicants are required to complete their applications online.

The postgraduate programs offered for the Rain Semester include:

Duration of Programs
Postgraduate Diploma
- Full-time: Minimum of 2 semesters
Master’s Degree
- Full-time (coursework and long essay/report): Minimum of 3 semesters
- Full-time (coursework and research thesis): Minimum of 4 semesters
Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
- Full-time: Minimum of 4 semesters
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
- Full-time: Minimum of 6 semesters
- Part-time: Minimum of 8 semesters, subject to approval
Admission Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma
Applicants may apply if they possess:
- A Third Class degree from Obafemi Awolowo University, or
- At least a Second Class Lower Division from a recognised university, or
- An HND certificate not below Lower Credit from a recognised Polytechnic.
Master’s Degree
Candidates must have:
- A minimum of Second Class Lower Division honors degree from OAU or any recognizedd university, or
- An HND with Lower Credit plus a Postgraduate Diploma from OAU.
Master of Philosophy (MPhil)
Applicants should possess:
- A Second Class Lower degree with 50–59% at Master’s level, or
- A Master’s degree with at least 60% average.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
Applicants must hold a Master’s degree with coursework and research thesis, with an average score of not less than 60%.
O’Level and Screening Requirements
All applicants must meet the basic O’Level requirements, which include five credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics where required, obtained in not more than two sittings.
In addition, every applicant must take part in the postgraduate screening examination, as this is a compulsory stage in the admission process.

- Professional programs: ₦25,000
- Subsea Engineering: ₦30,000
- DBA and DPA programs: ₦50,000
- Geospatial or Land Administration programs: US$100
- International applicants: US$100
Important Information for Applicants
Applicants can track the progress of their applications through the portal. The university will notify successful candidates via email once admission decisions have been made.
Applicants should also take note of the following:
- Sponsors must not submit multiple applications for a candidate, as this may lead to disqualification.
- Candidates who are already enrolled in another programme must declare it during application.
