The University of Minnesota Global Excellence Scholarship welcomes international freshmen and transfer students looking to pursue their degrees at our esteemed institution. All international applicants who submit their application by the deadline will automatically be considered for the University of Minnesota Undergraduate Scholarship. Established in 1851 beside the picturesque Saint Anthony Falls along the Mississippi River, we stand out as one of only five universities in the United States with an engineering school, medical school, law school, veterinary medicine school, and agricultural school all integrated on a single campus.
Scholarship Requirements:
To qualify for the University of Minnesota Scholarship, candidates should meet the following criteria:
- Must be international students.
- Must be admitted to an undergraduate degree program.
- The scholarship is available for undergraduate courses offered at the University.
- Selection is based on academic merit.
- Must enroll full-time in the Honors program during the semester in which the scholarship is awarded.
- Should demonstrate exceptional personal skills such as emotional maturity, motivation, and perseverance.
- Must provide a high school transcript and/or GSE results (if your transcript is not in English, a certified translation is also required).
- Must have a high school certificate or an equivalent qualification.
- Candidates should be highly motivated, responsible, and exhibit strong independent working abilities, alongside excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Applicants must hold an offer for a full-time program at the University of Minnesota, USA.
- The application process evaluates merit and evidence of leadership.
- English Language Requirement: Applicants must provide proof of meeting the University of Minnesota’s minimum English language proficiency standards.
Scholarship Benefits
- International freshmen have the opportunity to receive scholarships of $25,000, $15,000, or $10,000 per year for up to four years.
- For transfer students, there’s a chance to receive $10,000 per year for up to three years if you enter the University in the Fall semester. Those who begin in the Spring should note that scholarships will be awarded based on available funding.
