WAEC releases 2024 GCE results (2nd series) – See checking instructions and performance statistics

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has officially released the results for the 2024 Second Series of the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for private candidates. This announcement was made on February 16, 2025, by Moyosola Adesina, the Acting Head of WAEC’s Public Affairs Department.

Performance Statistics:

  • Total Candidates Registered: 68,342
  • Candidates Who Sat for the Examination: 65,023
  • Candidates with Fully Processed and Released Results: 62,354 (95.90%)
  • Candidates with Pending Results: 2,669 (4.10%) due to errors traceable to the candidates.
  • Candidates with Withheld Results: 2,577 due to alleged examination malpractice.

Notable Achievements:

  • Credit Passes in Five Subjects (Including English and Mathematics): 34,878 candidates (53.64%), marking a 9.35% improvement from the previous year.
  • Credit Passes in Five Subjects (Excluding English and Mathematics): 43,923 candidates (67.55%).

Gender Distribution of Successful Candidates:

  • Female Candidates: 17,992 (51.58%)
  • Male Candidates: 16,886 (48.41%)

How to Check Your WAEC GCE 2024 Results:

  1. Online Portal:
    • Visit: WAEC Result Checking Portal
    • Enter Your Details:
      • 10-digit WAEC Examination Number (7-digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number).
      • Examination Year (2024).
      • Examination Type (PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULT).
      • e-PIN Voucher Number and Personal Identification Number (PIN).
    • Submit: Click the “Submit” button to view your results.
  2. SMS Method:
    • Format: Send an SMS in the format: WAECExamNoPIN*ExamYear to 32327 (MTN, Airtel & Glo subscribers).
      • Example: WAEC4250101001123456789012*2024
    • Note: Ensure there are no spaces in the message. SMS charges apply.

Important Notes:

  • Pending Results: Candidates with pending results are advised to regularly check the WAEC portal for updates as efforts are underway to process these results promptly.
  • Withheld Results: Candidates whose results were withheld due to alleged malpractice will be contacted directly by WAEC after investigations are concluded.
  • Certificates: Certificates will be available for collection three months after the release of results. Candidates are to visit WAEC Ghana and request for the printing of their certificates.
