NMCN Announces Professional Exam Results in General/Post-Basic Nursing – May, 2025

The Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) has officially released the results of the May 2025 Professional Examination in General and Post-Basic Nursing Programs. This announcement, approved by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, marks a significant milestone for nursing professionals across the nation.

📊 Examination Overview and Pass Rates

A total of 13,880 candidates successfully passed the May 2025 examinations, reflecting a 76% overall pass rate across all nursing programs. This outcome underscores the dedication of both the candidates and the training institutions in upholding high standards in nursing education.

Breakdown by Program:

  • General Nursing Program: 9,472 candidates passed, achieving an 83% pass rate, the highest among all categories.
  • Post-Basic Nursing Programs: 2,397 candidates passed, with a 62% pass rate, indicating solid performance in specialized nursing fields.
  • Foreign-Trained Nurses (FTN): 364 candidates passed, resulting in a 53% pass rate, highlighting ongoing integration efforts for internationally educated nurses.
  • Refresher Program: 81 candidates passed, with a 44% pass rate, suggesting areas for improvement in preparatory support.
  • Community Nursing Program: 1,566 candidates passed, achieving a 77% pass rate, reflecting the growing emphasis on grassroots healthcare services.

📥 How to Check Your Result

Candidates can access their results through their respective training institutions. Heads of nursing training institutions have been granted access to the results online starting from Monday, 12th May 2025. Candidates are advised to contact their institutions for further details.

📝 Next Steps for Successful Candidates

Candidates who have passed the examination are required to complete their online registration and licensing via the NMCN portal within 90 days of the result release. Timely registration is crucial to avoid additional fees.

Registration Guidelines:

  1. Online Registration: Visit the NMCN Portal to initiate the registration process.
  2. Complete Required Steps: Fill in all necessary information and upload required documents.
  3. Fee Payment: Pay the applicable registration fee as specified on the portal.
  4. Avoid Late Fees: Ensure registration is completed within the stipulated 90-day period to avoid a late fee of ₦16,250.

Failure to complete first-time licensing annually will incur a penalty of ₦6,562.

📅 Upcoming Examination Schedule

The next professional examination is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 4th to Friday, 7th November 2025. Heads of training institutions are required to submit the Examination Application Checklist (EAC) for the November diet on or before 31st July 2025.
