The Skoll Scholarship at Oxford University (Saïd Business School)

The Skoll Scholarship, administered by the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Oxford’s Saïd Business School, offers fully funded MBA opportunities for outstanding social entrepreneurs dedicated to transforming unjust systems globally. This is a one-year, full-time MBA program with comprehensive financial support.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?
  • Full MBA course fees, easing a significant financial burden for scholars.
  • A living expenses grant, though partial, assists with day-to-day costs in Oxford.
  • Access to the global Skoll Scholar community, offering lifelong peer connection, mentorship, and collaboration.
Eligibility Criteria

Successful applicants typically exhibit:

  • Established social-impact leadership: Have launched or led a long-lasting social venture or initiative (preferably for at least 3 years).
  • Systems-level impact: Demonstrable positive change with evidence that it challenges inequitable systems.
  • Personal traits of a social innovator: Resilience, action-oriented mindset, risk tolerance, networking prowess, and proximity to the issue you address.
  • A strong case for why the Oxford MBA is vital to your work’s growth trajectory.
  • Financial need, showing that you cannot afford the MBA without this funding.
  • Oxford encourages diversity and especially welcomes applications from women, underrepresented groups, and individuals from the Global South.

Important Notice

As you prepare your MBA application, please remember to upload your responses to the Skoll Scholarship essay questions and submit your application. You can find the scholarship essay questions in the “Funding” section of the MBA application. We recommend allocating about a week to thoughtfully complete the Skoll Scholarship essay questions.

Once submitted, the MBA Admissions Team will review your application to decide whether you are accepted into the MBA program. If you receive confirmation of your acceptance, your application will automatically be forwarded to the Skoll Scholarship Selection Committee.

Scholarship applications are evaluated after each stage of the MBA admissions process. Following each admissions decision, you’ll receive an update regarding the status of your scholarship application and whether you’re moving forward to the final shortlisting.

If your scholarship application progresses to the final shortlist, watch for an email from the Skoll Centre containing a link to the Logistics and Reference Form. Please refer to the timelines below to know when to expect this communication.

Once you receive the email, you’ll need to complete the Logistics and Reference Form. This form includes a few short questions to verify your contact information (in case you are invited for an interview), how you learned about the scholarship, and your referees’ contact details. Rest assured, your referees will only be contacted if you reach the final stages of the selection process.
