Key Dates for 2026 Intake

For international applicants aiming to begin in mid–late 2026:

  • Merit scholarship round opens: June 9, 2025
  • Closes: February 2026
  • Results announced: May 2026
  • Program commencement: July–December 2026

Domestic and project-based rounds have separate timelines. Ensure you check the University’s dedicated scholarship page at the time of application.

Note:

  • Available scholarship opportunities (internally and externally funded) will be listed throughout the year on the Find a Research Project webpage if there is a project connected to the scholarship.
  • The majority of scholarships are offered during the Merit or Project scholarship rounds.
  • Scholarships are awarded to the highest-ranked eligible applicants.
  • Whether you are awarded a scholarship will be determined by the quality of your application relative to the other applications received.
  • Your competitiveness for scholarship(s) will be based on a combination of academic merit, research experience, and alignment with the University’s strategic goals.

Application Process

  1. Identify a supervisor and project, or pitch your own aligned to Adelaide’s research themes (e.g., Food & Wine, Health, Sustainable Green Transition)
  2. Complete the admission+scholarship application online, selecting the RTP scholarship option
  3. Attach documents: Academic transcripts, honors degree certificate, CV, research proposal, supervisor endorsement, proof of English proficiency, passport for internationals
  4. Submit by deadline: ideally early in the merit round, before mid-February 2026
  5. Track outcomes: Notifications expected by May 2026 – international winners generally start in Semester 2, 2026
Enhance Your Chances
  • A weighted average mark (WAM) of 80+ (or high honors) is often considered competitive—international benchmarks may be even higher
  • Research publications in Scopus/ISI journals and relevant research experience significantly strengthen your application
  • Engage with a potential supervisor early – their endorsement is a pivotal part of establishing a strong application
  • Apply early within the merit round to meet or beat internal university deadlines and ensure full consideration

The Adelaide RTP Scholarship for 2026 is a world-class opportunity for aspiring researchers. If you have strong academic credentials, a clear research direction, and proactive supervisor engagement, you’re well-positioned to secure funding.

Applications open June 2025 – start preparing your research proposal, gather supporting documents, and establish connections to boost your chances!
