The York University Presidential Scholarship is designed for international students eager to pursue their undergraduate studies at this esteemed Canadian institution. This scholarship, known as the President’s International Scholarship of Excellence, is specifically for international high school students embarking on their first year of a four-year undergraduate program at York. Candidates are selected based on their academic achievements, dedication to volunteer work and extracurricular activities, as well as their leadership qualities. Awardees will come from diverse regions globally and will collectively be known as “President’s International Scholars.”

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Fall 2026 president’s scholarship, applicants generally must:
- Be an international student requiring a Canadian study permit.
- Apply to an undergraduate program at York University starting in Spring 2026.
- Be a recent high school graduate, having applied directly to York within two years of graduation, and without any prior college or university experience. (Note: This does not apply to the Tentanda Via Award.)
- Maintain an outstanding academic record with a minimum average of “A” or its equivalent, where applicable.
- Showcase leadership qualities through community involvement or excellence in the arts, sports, or other notable achievements, as applicable.
- Include one letter of recommendation or any relevant supporting documents when submitting your application.
- Ensure that all required documents are marked as “Received” in your York application (MyFile) by November 1, 2025, at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time.
- Complete and submit the online International Student Scholarship Application by the same deadline of November 1, 2025, at 11:59:59 PM Eastern Time.
- A final admission average of at least 80% (A) is necessary for consideration.
- Financial need may also play a role in the selection process.

- If you’re not selected for the President’s International Scholarship of Excellence, don’t worry—your application will still be considered for other international entrance scholarships, like the Liberal Arts & Professional Studies International Undergraduate Leadership Scholarship (if applicable).
