The management of Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has released details of the Christmas break for staff and students for the 2025 festive season.
According to an official notice from the Office of the Registrar, the university will begin its Christmas break on Saturday, 20 December 2025. This means that all academic activities, lectures, and normal office duties will stop from that date. The memo also explained that staff and students are expected to resume academic and administrative activities on Saturday, 3 January 2026.
During the break period, all university offices will remain closed. However, the management made it clear that some staff members who provide essential services must continue to work to ensure safety and basic services within the campus. These essential staff include drivers attached to principal officers, members of the university security unit, estate and works staff in charge of water and electricity supply, porters working in the halls of residence, and health workers at the Emergency Unit of the Health Services Department.
The notice further stated that while limited activities will resume on 3 January 2026, full academic and administrative work across the university will officially restart on Monday, 5 January 2026.
In closing, the Vice-Chancellor, through the Acting Registrar, sent warm greetings to all staff and students. The management wished everyone a peaceful and joyful Christmas celebration and prayed for a successful and prosperous New Year.
