Abia State University (ABSU), Uturu, has announced the availability of Inter-University and Inter-Departmental Transfer forms for the 2024/2025 academic session. This initiative allows students to transfer either from other universities into ABSU or between departments within the university.
Eligibility Criteria
Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Duration of Study: Applicants must have completed at least one academic session in their current university or department.
- Academic Standing: A minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of not less than 3.50 and the transcript must be certified by the Registrar.
- Accreditation: For inter-university transfers, the originating institution must be recognized by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Federal Ministry of Education.
- Entry Requirements: Applicants must meet the minimum entry requirements for the desired program at ABSU.
- Disciplinary Record: Applicants should not have any disciplinary records or ongoing investigations at their current institution.
- Where the reason for applying for a change of programme is inability to cope with course-related demands in the present department, transfer to a less demanding programme may be approved with much lower CGPA;
- The student should apply to the Vice-Chancellor, through his/her current Dean and Head of Department;
- Change of degree programs should be exercised only once during a student’s undergraduate program.

- Deadline: The closing date for submission is typically six weeks from the start date, ending on April 21, 2025. Late submissions may not be entertained.
Considerations
- Program Availability: Transfers are subject to the availability of space in the desired program.
- Academic Compatibility: The curriculum of the current program should align closely with that of the desired program to facilitate a smooth transition.
- Quota Limitations: The number of students admitted via transfer may be limited to a certain percentage of the program’s capacity.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to review all guidelines thoroughly and ensure compliance with all requirements to enhance the likelihood of a successful transfer.
