The GREEN‑STEM program (“Green, REsilient, and ENtrepreneurial Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics”) is a flagship initiative under the EU’s Intra‑Africa Academic Mobility Scheme (2022–2027), part of the broader Global Gateway: Youth Mobility for Africa strategy. With a €27 million budget spread across roughly 15 projects, GREEN‑STEM facilitates academic and research mobility for students and staff across selected African partner universities, reinforcing capacity-building around climate change, sustainable development, and digital skills.

Overall Mission: Develop high-quality, resilient, green-focused STEM education and research across Africa.

- Strengthen cross-border higher education and academic collaboration.
- Foster an African ecosystem of quality HERI (Higher Education, Research, Innovation).
- Empower young leaders and graduates with green and entrepreneurial competencies.
- Support underrepresented groups—especially African women and individuals with disabilities.

The GREEN‑STEM consortium includes:

- Paris Sciences et Lettres University (France – EU liaison)
Additionally, affiliated partners include the AFRETEC & ARUA networks, and supporting industry partners like Bureau Veritas.
2025 Call for Applications
The 2025 GREEN‑STEM call supports both degree-seeking and mobility programs:
Master’s Degree Scholarships
- Duration: 22 months
- Monthly stipend: €890
- Covers tuition, visa, application fees, and insurance; travel costs are self-funded.
- Allocation: Up to 4 scholarships per partner university.
PhD Degree Scholarships
- Duration: 36 months
- Monthly stipend: €1,230
- Similar coverages and exclusions as the Master’s track.
- Allocation: 1–2 scholarships per partner university.

Who Should Apply?
- Target group: African women—particularly from underrepresented backgrounds or with disabilities—with citizenship and residence in Africa.

- Mobility rule: Host and home universities must be different institutions.
