General Requirements
Postgraduate Diploma (PGD):
- You must have an HND or a first degree in a related field from a recognized school. You must also meet the basic UTME requirements used for undergraduate admissions.
Master’s Degree:
- You should have a good university degree (usually Second Class Upper). Candidates with Second Class Lower may also be accepted in some cases.
- For the MICT program, you need an HND plus PGD in Computer Science, or a degree in Physical Sciences, Engineering, or similar fields.
- For Communication Studies programs (Master’s/Ph.D.), candidates can come from Arts, Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, and related areas.
Note:
- HND holders (with or without PGD) are not eligible for the M.Eng. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.
- MBA (Agribusiness) / Professional Masters in Communication Studies:
- A good bachelor’s degree or HND (Upper Credit) plus PGD is required.
- Candidates with PGD in Communication Studies (55% and above) may be considered for Master’s.
Special Program Requirements
Masters in Environment Management (MEM):
- This is a 3-semester professional course for degree or HND (Distinction/Credit + PGD) holders.
Masters in Environment Management & Protection (MEMP):
- This academic Master’s program lasts at least 4 semesters.
Agricultural Economics:
- For M.Agric, you need a B.Agric (Agric Economics) with Second Class Upper.
- Other degrees or Second Class Lower will lead to M.Sc. (Professional) first, with a chance to cross into M.Agric after scoring at least 60% in the first year.
- Chemistry and Physics credits are not compulsory at this level, but you must have Biology or Agric Science.
Veterinary Medicine (COLVET):
- M.V.Sc. is for DVM holders or those with similar qualifications.
- M.Sc. in COLVET is open to Biological Science graduates and approved Medical Laboratory fellows.
PGD Programs in COLANIM:
- These PGDs are open to candidates with a Third Class B.Agric in Animal Science. Courses include Poultry Breeding, Feed Resources, Cattle Production, Piggery, Rabbit Production, Pasture Production, and more.
Ph.D. Programs
- To apply for a Ph.D., you must have a Master’s degree from FUNAAB or any approved university.
- Those with a one-year Master’s must write a conversion exam before moving to the Ph.D. stage.
MBA Requirements
- You need at least a Second Class Lower degree.
- Third Class degree holders or HND (Upper Credit) holders with PGD may also be considered.
- Professionals with at least 5 years of experience can also apply.
- Those choosing Agribusiness must take some required agriculture courses.
Entrepreneurial Studies
- M.Sc. in Entrepreneurial Studies:
- You need at least a Second Class Lower degree.
- Third Class holders must have a PGD in Entrepreneurial Studies.
- Ph.D. in Entrepreneurial Studies:
- You must have a Master’s in Entrepreneurship, Business, Economics, Accounting, HRM, Marketing, Sociology, or related fields, with at least 60%.
Research Requirement
- Academic Master’s and Ph.D. applicants must submit a research proposal and may be invited for oral or written interactions.
Peace, Strategic, Security & Ethics Studies
Masters in Peace & Strategic Studies:
- Any recognized honors degree is acceptable.
PGD in Peace & Strategic Studies:
- Minimum of Third Class in a related field, or HND (Upper Credit).
Masters / Professional Masters in Security & Intelligence Studies:
- Five O-level credits including English and Maths, plus:
- A first degree in any field, or
- A PGD in Communication Studies (55% and above).
PGD in Professional Ethics:
Any honors degree or HND (Upper Credit).
M.Sc. in Professional & Applied Ethics:
A degree in Arts, Sciences, Applied Sciences, Social Sciences, Education, or related fields.
