Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA) Opens 2025/2026 Postgraduate Admissions

Federal University Lokoja (FULOKOJA), Kogi State, is inviting qualified candidates to apply for its postgraduate programs for the 2025/2026 academic session. Below is a basic breakdown of the admission requirements and how to apply.

General Admission Requirements

1. Postgraduate Diploma (PGD)

The PGD programme runs for 2–4 semesters.

To apply, you must have:

  • A first degree (not below Third Class) OR an HND (Lower Credit and above) in a related field
  • NYSC Discharge or Exemption Certificate
  • Five O’Level credits, including English, Mathematics, and three relevant subjects

For the Centre for Safety Management, applicants with strong work experience in safety fields or those with professional safety certifications may also be considered.

2. Master’s Degree (Full-time and Part-time)

  • Full-time: 4–6 semesters
  • Part-time: 6–11 semesters

You may qualify if you:

  • Have at least a Second-Class degree from FUL or another recognized university
  • Have a degree plus a relevant PGD with at least a credit pass
  • Have a Third-Class degree plus a relevant PGD
  • Have an unclassified degree with a “C” (50+) average (you may take a qualifying test)
  • Have five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics
  • Have an NYSC Certificate
  • Pass a Departmental Exam (if required)
  • Have other qualifications approved by the University Senate

Special Requirements

M.Sc. in Molecular Biology and Genomics:

  • Open to graduates in Medicine, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medical Lab Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or related fields with at least Second-Class Lower.
  • Candidates with Upper Credit in PGD Microbiology (FUL or recognized institutions) can also apply.

Centre for Safety Management:

  • Requires a degree in Engineering, Environmental Sciences, Physical Sciences, Health Sciences, Management Sciences, or related fields.
  • A PGD in Safety/Environmental/Risk Management may be accepted.
  • Two years of work experience in safety is preferred.
  • Professional safety membership is an added advantage.

Institute for Gender Studies

  • Requires at least Second-Class Lower in Gender Studies, Social Sciences, Humanities, or related fields.
  • Relevant work experience is a plus.

3. Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The Ph.D. program lasts 6–10 semesters. Candidates may need to take some courses and must write a thesis.

You may qualify if you:

  • Hold a good Master’s degree (minimum CGPA: 4.0/5.0 or 3.0/4.0) in a relevant area
  • Hold a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) in a related field
  • Have at least a Second-Class Lower Bachelor’s Degree
  • Have five O’Level credits including English and Mathematics
  • Have an NYSC Certificate
  • Have other qualifications accepted by the University Senate
