JAMB Admission Deadline for Tertiary Institutions – 2025/2026

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set firm timelines for the conclusion of admission processes across all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. These deadlines were formalized at the 2025 Policy Meeting and aim to ensure a stable and equitable academic calendar for all students and schools.

Official Deadlines
Institution TypeAdmission Deadline
Public UniversitiesOctober 31, 2025
Private UniversitiesNovember 30, 2025
All Other Tertiary Schools (e.g., polytechnics, colleges of education, monotechnics, innovation enterprise institutions)December 31, 2025
  • Public universities must wrap up admissions by 31 October 2025, aligning with the board’s directive to prevent delays and confusion.
  • Private universities have until 30 November 2025 to finalize their admission.
  • All other tertiary institutions—whether public or private—must conclude their admissions by 31 December 2025.

JAMB has strongly urged institutions to finish their post-UTME screenings and admission processes early, regardless of whether the academic session has begun, to ensure compliance with these strict timelines.

Why These Deadlines Matter
  1. Academic Calendar Stability
Setting clear cut-off points prevents institutions from dragging their admission processes into the next session, which often causes academic disruptions.
  2. Fairness & Equitable Access
These deadlines help level the playing field—students can’t keep switching between schools or delaying decisions, and all institutions proceed on the same, transparent timeline.
  3. Efficient Planning for Stakeholders
Institutions now have firm timelines to plan post-UTME, matriculation, and orientation. Candidates also know when to expect closure of admission processes and can plan accordingly.
What This Means for Students
  • If you’re awaiting admission to a public university, expect the process to close by end of October 2025.
  • For private universities, keep an eye on updates and deadlines up till 30 November 2025.
  • If you’re applying to polytechnics, colleges of education, or other tertiary schools, the final cutoff is 31 December 2025, so you still have some time—just don’t wait till the last minute!

Ensure you’re regularly checking JAMB CAPS, your institution’s portal for updates and batch releases.
