The University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB) has opened applications for the 2026 Chinese Government Scholarship (CSC Type A – Bilateral Program).
The Chinese Government Scholarship is a full or partial scholarship offered by China’s Ministry of Education. It supports international students through agreements with governments, universities, and institutions around the world. The scholarship is managed by the China Scholarship Council (CSC), which handles applications and daily scholarship matters.

- Living allowance: CNY 3,000/month for master’s students, CNY 3,500/month for doctoral students

Program Duration
- Master’s degree: 2–3 years
- Doctoral degree: 4 years
- Chinese language training: 1 year available for students who study in Chinese with only HSK Level 4
Eligibility
- Must be a non-Chinese citizen and in good health
- Master’s applicants: bachelor’s degree, under 35 years old
- Doctoral applicants: master’s degree, under 40 years old
- Language requirements:
- Programs in Chinese: HSK Level 4 or above
- Programs in English: IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 80, or other recognized English certificates
- Undergraduate applicants must take the CSCA exam
Required Documents
- Completed application form
- Academic transcripts (bachelor’s and master’s)
- Personal statement (with research plan)
- Two recommendation letters
- Copy of passport
- Study plan with intended degree and major
- HSK or English proficiency certificate (if unavailable, explain in email)
How to Apply
- Go to the USTB application webpage.
- Send your documents to [email protected].
- Subject: “Pre-Admission (Type A) Application + Your Full Name”
- Include the full name of your chosen program in Chinese or English in the email body.
- USTB will issue your Pre-Admission Notice within 7 working days.
Important: When applying for the CSC Type A scholarship, list USTB as one of your choices. It is recommended to put USTB as your first choice to increase your chances of being admitted.
