The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced a new deadline for admissions into public universities for the 2025/2026 academic session. The new closing date is now Monday, November 17, 2025.
This change came after an appeal from the Association of Vice-Chancellors of Nigerian Universities (AVCNU). Their request followed delays caused by a court order that paused the 2025/2026 admission process until October 28, 2025.
In addition, the National Universities Commission (NUC) recently approved 229 new programs in 37 universities on October 29, 2025, and admissions into these programs are only just beginning.
JAMB explained that the extension is meant to give all schools enough time to finish admissions properly and fairly. The Board also made it clear that this will be the final deadline, and all institutions must comply.
All prospective students are advised to complete their admission process before the new date. JAMB has also called on all universities and stakeholders to take note of the update and make the necessary arrangements.
