UNIPORT ACE-CEFOR Opens Admission for 2025/2026 Academic Session

The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), through its World Bank Africa Centre of Excellence in Oilfield Chemicals Research (ACE-CEFOR), has announced the start of admission for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Established in 2013, ACE-CEFOR focuses on postgraduate training and research for the petroleum and related industries across Africa. The Centre runs internationally recognized graduate programs aimed at developing skilled professionals, supporting sustainable growth, and promoting quality research in the oil and gas sector.

Ph.D. Programs at ACE-CEFOR

The Ph.D. programs are designed to help brilliant graduates solve real challenges in the petroleum and energy industries. Available Ph.D. programs include:

  • Petroleum Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering
  • Petroleum/Energy Economics
  • Geology/Geosciences
  • Pure and Industrial Chemistry
  • Plant Science and Biotechnology
  • Microbiology
  • Process Engineering
  • Environmental Technology and Management
  • Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • Oilfield Biology
  • Oilfield Chemistry
  • Offshore Oilfield Science and Blue Economy

Admission Requirements (Ph.D.)

  • Candidates must have a relevant M.Sc. degree from UNIPORT or another accredited university.
  • A minimum CGPA of 3.5 on a 5-point scale is required, and at least 3.0 CGPA in the first degree.

Program Duration (Ph.D.)

  • Runs for 36 months and includes classroom courses and research projects linked to the oil and gas industry.
M.Sc. Programs at ACE-CEFOR

The M.Sc. programs offer advanced training for those who want to build their technical and research skills in oilfield and environmental studies.

  • Process Engineering

Admission Requirements (M.Sc.)

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree with at least 3.0 CGPA on a 5-point scale from UNIPORT or any recognised university.
  • Credit passes in Mathematics and English Language at O’Level.

Program Duration (M.Sc.)

  • Runs for 12 months, covering coursework and research.
