University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) Notice to NELFUND Loan Beneficiaries

The University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has released an internal notice to remind students who benefited from the Federal Government NELFUND Loan Scheme to complete their loan verification process. Affected students are also expected to collect their official school fee payment receipts from the university.

The circular is dated January 9, 2026, and it was signed by the University Bursar, Mr. Wilson Anyiom, MSc, CCA. The notice mainly concerns students whose NELFUND loan applications have already been approved and funded.

Approvals and Disbursements

According to the circular, some UNICROSS students have successfully received approval under the NELFUND loan program. The Federal Government has also released funds for these approved students.

However, the university observed that many beneficiaries are either not aware that their loans have been approved or are confused about the next steps to take. Some students do not know how to confirm their loan status or how to get their school fee payment receipts. This confusion, although small, needs to be corrected.

What Students Should Do

The university has directed all affected students to report to the ICT Unit of the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).

At the ICT Unit, students are expected to:

  • Verify and confirm their NELFUND loan approval status
  • Complete the required loan verification process
  • Collect their official school fee payment receipts issued by the university

Students are advised to follow these steps carefully to avoid any issues.

Validation

The circular clearly states that UNICROSS will only validate NELFUND loan disbursements for students who obey this instruction.

Only students who complete the verification process and collect their receipts will have their names included on the official university list of students who have paid their school fees. Any student who fails to comply may not be recognized as having paid their fees, even if the loan was approved.
