This quick guide is meant to help UNILAG students understand how to handle their course fees and registration on the school portal. It breaks down the major charges, shows what payments are required, and explains the basic steps to follow especially if the portal gives any errors.
How the course registration portal works
The UNILAG course registration portal is arranged in two main parts:
- Program type – Science or Non-science
- Student category – Fresher, Returning student, or Graduating student
These two details help the portal decide the right fees for each student.
Compulsory fees
Some fees must be paid before you can complete course registration. These are clearly marked as compulsory on the portal. They include:
- Utility
- Departmental dues
- Faculty dues
- Convocation fees (for graduating students)
Until these fees are paid, the portal will not show your registration as complete.
Minimum payment needed
To finish registration, every student must pay at least 50% of the Obligatory Fee.
Once you pay half of this fee and clear all compulsory charges, the portal will allow you to continue with course registration.
Field trip fees
Some departments add a Field Trip Fee. If this applies to your department, it will show clearly on the portal as part of your total charges.
How to fix common portal problems
If you cannot generate fees or register your courses, try these steps:
- Log in to the student portal.
- Click the option to refresh payment status.
- Generate your fees again.
- Check your pay advice.
- Pay through any of the approved payment channels.
These steps usually fix most missing or incorrect fee displays.
UNILAG ICT support contacts
If the problem continues, you can contact the ICT team through email:
Send your full name, matric number, program type, and a short description of the issue.
By paying the right fees, following the portal steps, and reaching out for help when needed, students can complete their registration smoothly at the University of Lagos (UNILAG).
