2026 UNIL Master’s Scholarships – University of Lausanne, Switzerland

The UNIL Master’s Scholarship (also known as the Master’s Grants) is a merit-based funding opportunity from the University of Lausanne (UNIL), available to international students seeking to pursue a Master’s degree in Switzerland. The 2026 edition will follow the same model as previous years, awarded annually to a select group of around 10 exceptional candidates.

Timeline
  • Applications open: September 2025
  • Deadline: 1 November 2025.
This aligns with past and upcoming cycles.
Scholarship Coverage & Benefits
  • Monthly stipend: CHF 1,600 per month for 10 months per year, covering the minimum statutory duration of the master’s program (typically 1.5 to 2 years).
  • Tuition fees: Exempted from fixed registration fees, with only a modest CHF 80 per semester payable.
  • Note: The stipend alone usually does not fully cover living costs in Lausanne; applicants are advised to secure supplementary resources.
Who Can Apply?

Eligible candidates must:

  • Hold or be on track to obtain a degree from a foreign university considered equivalent to a Swiss Bachelor’s (180 ECTS credits) before their UNIL Master’s begins.
  • Not be currently registered or already enrolled in any Master’s at UNIL.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic excellence (“very high level” performance).
  • Meet language proficiency depending on the Master’s program: C1 in French or English, or B2 minimum in some cases.
  • Pay the CHF 200 administrative fee, and include proof of payment with their application.

Note: Withdrawal from the program will lead to the suspension of the scholarship award.
