Gombe State University (GSU) Institute of Education has announced the start of its Postgraduate Diploma in Community Health Education (PGDCHE) for the 2025/2026 academic session.
This program is designed to give professionals in community health both academic knowledge and practical skills. It is mainly for those who already have a Higher Diploma in Community Health (CHO) or a Bachelor’s degree in any health-related course and want to upgrade their qualifications.
Program Duration
- The PGDCHE runs for one year (two semesters). During this period, students will be trained in health education, community practice, and teaching methods.
- The goal is to help participants play an active role in improving public health and community well-being.
Approval and Uniqueness
- The program is fully approved by the National Universities Commission (NUC) and the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).
- GSU is also the only university in the North-East offering this special postgraduate diploma.
- Graduates will not only gain advanced professional skills in community health but also learn how to teach in training schools and health institutions.
- After completing the program, graduates can proceed to higher studies such as a Master’s or PhD.
Admission Requirements
To apply, candidates must:
- Have at least five (5) O’Level credits in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Physics, and Chemistry (in not more than two sittings).
- Hold a Higher Diploma in Community Health (CHO) with at least one year of experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in a related health field.
- Be registered and licensed by the Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN).

- Interested candidates should pay a ₦10,000 non-refundable fee into the Institute’s official account and fill out the application form on the Institute of Education portal.

Lecture Schedule
Classes will hold on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, making it convenient for working professionals who wish to further their education while keeping their jobs.
