National Examinations Council (NECO) 2025 SSCE Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has shared the results for the 2025 June/July Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE Internal). This was announced by the Registrar and Chief Executive, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, during a press conference in Minna, Niger State.

Below are the key details:

Registration and Attendance

  • Total candidates registered: 1,367,210
  • Total candidates who took the exam: 1,358,339 (680,292 males; 678,047 females)

Performance Results

  • Candidates who got five credits or more, including Mathematics and English: 818,492 — that’s 60.26% of those who took the exam.
  • Candidates who received five credits or more in any five subjects (no Math/English required): 1,144,496, which is 84.26%.

Special Needs Candidates

  • Total candidates with special needs: 1,622
  • Candidates with hearing impairment: 586 males and 355 females
  • Candidates with visual impairment: 111 males and 80 females

Examination Cheating and Integrity

  • Number of candidates caught cheating: 3,878, which is a 61.58% drop from 2024 when there were 10,094 cases.
  • Schools involved in mass cheating: 38 schools from 13 states.
  • Supervisors under investigation: 9 are recommended for blacklisting due to reasons like poor supervision and helping students cheat. They come from Rivers (3), Niger (1), FCT (3), Kano (1), and Osun (1).

State Performance

Top States:

  • Kano — 68,159 candidates earned five credits, including English and Math, making it the best performing state.
  • Lagos — 67,007 candidates
  • Oyo — 48,742 candidates

Lowest Performing Center: “Gabon” was mentioned, but it seems to refer to a specific examination center, not the country, as no candidates there met the five-credit requirement including English and Math.

Results Release Timing

The results came out 54 days after the last exam, which took place between June 16 and July 25, 2025.

Subject and Curriculum Changes

As part of improvement efforts, NECO is only offering the SSCE for 38 subjects based on a new curriculum, which should help speed up result processing.
