The University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) has announced that it will hold its 2026 Students Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) Pre-Placement Orientation Program for students who are preparing to go on industrial attachment.
According to an internal notice released by the SIWES Unit under the Office of the Vice-Chancellor, the orientation program is scheduled for Wednesday, 14th January, 2026. The event will take place at the University Auditorium and is expected to start by 10:00 a.m. sharp. All students due for SIWES are encouraged to be present and arrive early.
The orientation program is a yearly awareness and guidance session organized by the SIWES Unit in partnership with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF). Its main purpose is to properly guide and prepare students for their industrial training. During the program, students will be informed about what SIWES involves, the rules guiding the scheme, and what is expected of them during their attachment period.
The memorandum also noted that the program will be officially declared open by the Vice-Chancellor of the University. Faculty and Departmental SIWES Coordinators have been directed to inform their students about the program and ensure they visit the SIWES Unit to collect all necessary SIWES documents before the orientation date. The presence of Departmental SIWES Coordinators was described as important to ensure the program runs smoothly and achieves its purpose.
The notice was signed by the Director of the SIWES Unit, Prof. R. M. O. Kayode, who appreciated the expected cooperation and support of all staff, coordinators, and students involved in making the program a success.
