Step-by-Step Procedure for 2026 UTME/DE Registration
1. Profile Creation
Each candidate must use a unique and personal mobile number (SIM). This number will serve as the candidate’s permanent identification for all transactions with JAMB now and in the future.
Candidates who purchase a new SIM solely for registration are advised to activate the “Keep My Number (KMN)” service from their telecom provider to prevent the SIM from being reassigned.
To create a profile:
- Send your NIN by SMS to 55019 or 66019.
- Type:
NIN space Your 11-digit NIN(Example: NIN 00123456789). - Send from your personal mobile number (do not use post-paid or special bundle lines unless properly credited).
A 10-character Profile Code will be sent to the same number. Returning candidates will receive the same profile code previously used.
Candidates must always remember their registered phone number and email address, as these are essential for communication with the Board.
By purchasing the UTME/DE form, candidates agree to receive SMS notifications from JAMB, even if the “Do Not Disturb (DND)” service is activated.
Note: Change of SIM after profile creation is not allowed.
2. Purchase of e-PIN
Candidates should present their Profile Code at any approved outlet (Banks, NIPOST, MMOs, MFBs, or other participating financial institutions).
After payment of ₦5,700, the e-PIN will be sent to the candidate’s registered phone number via SMS.
3. Registration at CBT Centre
Candidates must present their Profile Code and e-PIN at an accredited CBT centre to complete registration.
Registration is only complete after:
- Capture of biometrics (all ten fingers)
- Physical photograph taken at the centre
No passport photograph submission is allowed. Biometric verification is required for the examination and all future transactions.
Group or school-based registration is strictly prohibited.
Candidates with biometric challenges must register at JAMB National or State Offices.
Retrieval and Self-Service Options
- To retrieve a lost Profile Code: Send RESEND to 55019 or 66019.
- To reset a password: Send PASSWORD space email address to 55019 or 66019.
Complaints and Support
All complaints must be submitted through the official JAMB online ticketing system at www.jamb.gov.ng via the Ticket/Support section.
Third-party complaints (from parents or guardians) are not entertained. Written letters are unnecessary; all issues must be resolved through the online platform.
Important DE Registration Rules
- Candidates awaiting O’Level results cannot register for DE.
- A’Level results must be uploaded and verified before admission can be processed.
- Candidates awaiting IJMB/JUPEB/NABTEB results must upload their Admission Letter and Registration Template.
- Applicants with pre-2020 Cambridge certificates must verify directly with Cambridge (this may take up to 28 days).
- Statement of results is accepted only within three years of award (except NCE, which is valid for one year).
- Upgrade from UTME to DE is only allowed for candidates who declared awaiting A’Level results during UTME registration.
- Candidates must check their A’Level verification status on the JAMB e-facility portal (“CLEARED” or “NOT CLEARED”).
Additional Guidelines
- Multiple registrations are not allowed. Errors should be corrected through JAMB, not by purchasing a new form.
- Parents, guardians, or proxies must not manage a candidate’s profile. Sharing login details is at the candidate’s risk.
- Candidates must disclose any previous admission or matriculation details during registration. Failure to do so will invalidate the application.
Candidates are advised to carefully follow all guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful Direct Entry registration process.
